When Is It Time to Replace Your AC?
It can be tough to know when you need a new air conditioner for your Frederick-area home. Most failing AC units will show signs that they’re about to fail for good.
If your system is getting old and seems like it may be reaching the end of its useful life, it’s probably time for a new one. Under these circumstances, you have time to gather information and make a relaxed, informed decision without any pressure. The other time for replacement is in a dire emergency when you’re forced to face extreme heat or cold. In those instances, you often need to make quick decisions in order to get your home comfortable again.
Systems get more efficient every year which means a lower energy bill and if you want to avoid a dire emergency of needing a new system, being proactive about replacement is extremely beneficial.
You may need a brand-new air conditioning unit if:
- Your AC only cools certain rooms
- Your system emits smoke or sparks
- Your air conditioner makes odd sounds
- Your energy bills are higher than ever before
A new air conditioner could resolve all these issues and more. They can also work more efficiently than older models, lowering your energy bills. Swapping out your AC system can be done in just a day.
If you need a new air conditioner, rely on Frederick Air to handle the job.
How to Choose an HVAC System
When choosing an HVAC system for your home, you need to determine:
- Brand
- Size
- System Type
There are many brands on the market today and our advice is to stick with a company that focuses on HVAC equipment. These include Bryant, Carrier, Lennox, Trane, and York among others. We’ve chosen to align ourselves with Bryant and we have the strength of a strong, long-standing relationship with the company. Frederick Air was named Bryant’s National Dealer of the Year in 2014.
Below are the components that your contractor will use to identify the right size for your home:
- Total Square Footage
- Exterior Exposure
- Duct System Design
- Other Factors
It’s important that your contractor gets the sizing correct the first time around. An oversized system will cause unnecessary high utility bills, uneven temperatures, and poor humidity control. An undersized system will run constantly and still not be able to keep you comfortable.
Types of AC Systems We Install
There are several ways to cool your home, and that’s why Frederick Air installs a variety of AC units. We install both central AC systems and ductless mini-splits.
Traditional central air conditioners provide cooling throughout the entire home. A central unit creates cool air and sends it through the air duct system. A ductless mini-split works independently of the air ducts, creating cool air and sending it through a wall-mounted unit. These systems are perfect for controlling the climate of a single room.
No matter the type of cooling system you want for your home, let our experts install it. Contact us today to schedule an AC installation.
